ABOUT THE BRAND

Choice by Sexy Dynamite London

A premium sub-brand of Japanese fashion brand Sexy Dynamite London. Affectionally called “SekuDai” by its fans in Japan, the brand was known for its 70s-punk-inspired clothing, sometimes with gothic touches, and often featuring Sex Pistols-like graphics, metal studs, safety pins, and distressed British flags. Heavily influenced by lolita fashion progenitor Vivienne Westwood's aesthetic, for years the brand also hosted a Vivienne Westwood exclusive shop / museum in Harajuku. The brand closed its doors in September 2010.

At its peak, Sexy Dynamite London had at least eighteen of their own shops in Japan (including their famous “Vivienne Westwood Museum") and employed over sixty people, as well as having its clothing carried in over thirty other stores across Japan. Their collaborations with various VK musicians, and their participation in several LaForet fashion events in Japan and abroad, made the brand’s name and styles well-known overseas to Western fans of visual kei, j-rock, and Japanese culture.

Founded in 1992, the founder says of the concept:

The brand name pays homage to Vivienne Westwood, who designed costumes for Sex Pistols, and the “SEXY DYNAMITE” image represented by Marilyn Monroe at that time in the US. So, the brand name “SEXY DYNAMITE LONDON” includes the meaning “beautiful and cool” women.

The Vivienne Westwood inspired frilled shirtdress one piece is a fantastic example of a punk lolita fashion dress. It's also an iconic and original item for fans of the NANA manga and movie series as it is a key item worn by the character of Nana Osaki from the Ai Yazawa manga-turned-movie, NANA. As it was produced around the same time as the movie, it could be considered both an authentic fashion history collector's item, a movie souvenir, as well as a usable cosplay piece (in as much as any Vivienne Westwood fashion items could also be used to cosplay Nana Osaki or Hachi)

I am letting go of this dress now and hoping to give it a new home, expressly because I no longer fit this dress. Now that it's being rereleased, I want to buy it again, but in a bigger size!

I acquired this by trade back in Fall 2009 from a fellow member of the egl_comm_sales community.  

• COLOR: The color of this OP is black. Stock photo of the red version is provided for an idea of styling.
• SIZE: This is marked as size XS. Recommended for people with a bustline of no more than 30 inches, and a waistline of no more than 26 inches.
  
• FASTENERS: The button placket at front is fake - this fastens via an invisible zipper at the center back.
  
• INCLUDES: This listing includes the separate liner for the skirt portion, and the spare button attached to the interior fabric tag. see pictures.
• Kept in a smoke free, pet free home. In very good to nearly new condition, but it has been stored for some time (since 2009). None of the store purchase tags are included.
